From now on wihtuk.blogspot will be our main online outlet as myspace is proper shit!!! Keep posted for updates on the forthcoming release ‘The Harrowing of the North’ . Start following this blog, it will get more interesting!!!! For those who don’t know us.....
Wiht are a Leeds-based trio who started life in March 2009 and whose epic, instrument style straddles doom, stoner and psyche. Their self titled debut, Wiht (November 2009), won them critical acclaim, described as ‘moving’  and ‘massive – 9/10’ (Planetfuzz.com), and ‘other wordly’, ‘set apart from other bands – 9/10’ (Ukmetalunderground.com). The band have played across the UK, supporting Brant Bjork and the Bros, Humanfly, Khuda, and A Forest of Stars, and made it through to the final of the Battle for Damnation festival in 2010.
Wiht’s first full album The Harrowing of the North is a two song, forty minute concept piece, set for a summer time release through Doomanoid Records.  Taking influence thematically from the subjugation of Northern England by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it tells the troubled history  of doomsday-era Yorkshire and the Humber, an area devastated by a series of raids (subsequently giving the name ‘The Harrying of the North’) aimed at bringing the North of England under the control of the newly crowned king ‘William the Conqueror’. The raids resulted in an unimaginable massacre; from the Humber to the Tees William’s army ravaged the land as well as the people. The repercussions of the raids were felt for generations, the kings armies destroyed the land to ensure it held no economic or cultural worth and would remain under his subservient rule.
